Heating

You can control the heating from the Nest thermostat in the living room.

Heating at Thistledowne is controlled by a Nest thermostat and the Home/Away Assist mode will be on for your visit. It will be switched to the Home mode before 4pm so that the house is warm when you arrive. If the house is cold then all I can do is apologise for forgetting to alter the setting in time! Obviously during the summer I am assuming the heating won’t need to be on but who knows? If you know that you will be arriving much later than 4pm then please let me know (rokerpier@gmx.co.uk) and I will make sure the house is heated for a later arrival.

Home/Away Assist on the Nest thermostat uses a sensor built into the thermostat (which is in the living room). When you leave the house it will wait a short while to make sure nobody’s coming back, then it will switch to Eco Temperature (15ºC). When someone returns home, the thermostat will automatically switch back to the regular temperature schedule. At the moment (19 Feb) the regular schedule is set at:

6.45am 19°C     10am 18°C     5.15pm 21°C    10.45pm 14ºC

If you are too hot or too cold just alter the temperature on the thermostat and it will use your new temperature setting until the next programmed regular setting is due to start. If you are staying a week or longer and would like the times or temps changed for your stay then please just email Pam at rokerpier@gmx.co.uk and I will change them for you.

There is a gas fire in the living room if you want some extra heat. To light, remove grill at bottom, push in knob and turn anti-clockwise until it clicks, hold there for 5 seconds and it should ignite, then turn to required flame.

Our water is metered so PLEASE think about your water usage. Many thanks.
